The Assignment
At the school campus in Stuttgart-Feuerbach, two existing sports halls had to be demolished to make way for the construction of a new three-court sports hall. For the period in which the new sports hall is being built, a replacement sports facility was required for seven years for pupils and sports clubs.
For this purpose, Neptunus constructed a demountable sports hall with two playing courts on the Festplatz on Kärntner Straße. This means that physical education classes can continue and sports clubs can continue to use the sports facility during the construction period of the new sports hall.
The Solution
The Flexolution III is used for this project. The facility consists of a Flexolution III measuring 24 x 48 metres, which houses the sports area with sports flooring and two playing courts, as well as an adjoining Flexolution III measuring 9 x 48 metres, which accommodates the ancillary rooms and other facilities.
The facility has a gross floor area of 1,618 m² and a usable floor area of 1,584 m².
Neptunus delivered a complete sports facility with two playing courts and the associated facilities. The building includes, among other things, two equipment rooms, a technical room, changing rooms with showers for women and men, two teachers’ rooms, several toilets – including an accessible toilet – as well as a control/first-aid room.
The sports floor is insulated, and the façade and roof elements are also equipped with thermal insulation. Part of the roof has been designed as a sedum roof. The sports hall complies with the requirements of the German Building Energy Act (GEG).
The Challenges
The replacement sports hall had to provide sufficient space and the necessary facilities for physical education and use by sports clubs over a period of seven years. In addition to two playing courts, all necessary ancillary rooms were therefore required, including changing rooms with showers, toilets, equipment rooms, technical facilities, as well as rooms for teachers and first aid.
At the same time, the sports hall is intended for temporary use at this location. The structure is rented for a period of seven years and must be suitable for reuse afterwards.
The Verdict
Since June 2023, a demountable sports hall with two playing courts and complete ancillary facilities has been available in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. This ensures that space for physical education and use by sports clubs remains available during the construction period of the new sports hall.
At the end of the rental period, the Flexolution III can be dismantled, rebuilt at another location and reused. This means that the structure remains available for further use even after its deployment in Stuttgart-Feuerbach.
